Beyond Benefits: Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic
Wisconsin has made significant progress in improving the oral health status of its residents, yet oral disease continues to be a key health concern. At Delta Dental, part of our mission is to fund oral health initiatives that focus on access to care, prevention, and research. Our working relationships with you and your clients allow us to extend access to dental care across Wisconsin to those that may not otherwise receive it. This month, we are featuring an organization that is improving the dental health of Waukesha County residents.
Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic (WCCDC) opened in 2008 and has served more than 8,100 low-income individuals through preventive services, treatment, education, and advocacy. It has become one of the most successful stand-alone dental clinics in the state serving low-income residents. Every month, the clinic has an average of:
- 318 appointments for restorative care
- 296 appointments for hygiene care
- 103 new patient appointments
- 100 emergency dental appointments
Delta Dental has presented WCCDC with a $50,000 grant for X-ray equipment for their existing location as well as equipment and supplies to help facilitate the opening of a satellite clinic in Oconomowoc. The new site will provide additional access to Waukesha children and adults in the northern part of the county.
