Corporate Communications Manager The Corporate Communications Manager is responsible for managing Delta Dental of Wisconsin’s (DDWI’s) overall corporate image – with particular emphasis in marketing, advertising, public relations, and philanthropy. The individual must be an exceptional listener and communicator with the ability to write clearly and occasionally act as a spokesperson for the company. Responsibilities: - Help support and develop the company’s annual sales, marketing and communications plan, including development of communications objectives, strategies, and budget that incorporate the needs of internal stakeholders and expectations of our external audiences.
- Oversee the DDWI brand and corporate identity. Assure proper use of logo and consistency of language across all communications. Communicate with the DDPA to assist in brand management.
- Develop, implement, and monitor tactical key messaging strategies that focus messaging across all communication mediums on the needs/expectations of our stakeholders. Adjust messaging strategies by audience.
- Oversee production of all print and electronic newsletters for agents, employer groups, subscribers, and dentists. Develop and implement a plan to optimize newsletter communication strategies with these key audiences.
- Act as the project lead for or participate in the creation and development of multiple forms of marketing collateral (brochures, direct mail, forms, and other printed materials). Work closely with internal creative team, as well as external vendors (agencies, printers, photographers, etc.).
- Manage the company’s media plan – working closely with multiple publications to select media opportunities, determine budget, negotiate pricing, and secure print and online marketing placements.
- Develop and implement strategies to effectively leverage DDWI’s philanthropic activities to promote the company’s image and business interests. Build a philanthropic plan that tracks activities/events and provides a calendar to senior management of activities and participation. Help coordinate senior management participation for select activities/events.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the media.
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization – occasionally attending philanthropic events and making short presentations on behalf of DDWI.
- Support government relations efforts to influence legislation and regulation that affects the company’s interests.
- Produce and distribute news releases for the company as needed.
- Assist with other marketing needs and/or special projects as needed, including support for Web communications and presentations for internal speakers.
Qualified candidates for this position will have: - Bachelor’s degree in communications or communications related field with a minimum of five years of experience in communications or public relations.
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability to adapt style to suit various needs and audiences.
- Professional presentation skills and confidence in acting as a spokesperson with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Access preferred.
Corporate Compliance Manager The Corporate Compliance Manager's role is to oversee and ensure compliance with legal requirements across the organization. This includes ensuring the company's compliance with healthcare contracts, employment law and general business issues, as well as assessing legislation that impacts the organization. The Corporate Compliance Manager will work in tandem with and serve as a liaison for outside corporate counsel. Responsibilities: - Draft and review formal contract language, policies and forms (group applications, enrollment cards, etc.) to comply with state statutes, legal requirements, underwriting guidelines and corporate objectives
- Manage contract process including filing contract endorsements, management of pending contract signatures, preparation of custom contracts, filing of endorsements and contracts with the OCI
- Secure and maintain current licenses in other states for any products or subsidiary organizations of DDWI; this includes insurance licensing, TPA licensing and licensing necessary for non-insurance products
- Analyze and provide guidance for documents relating to proposed new products, intellectual property, investment agreements, stock purchase documents, due diligence, valuation opinions, purchase and joint venture agreements, board governance, non-disclosure, vendor agreements, maintenance contracts, work orders, agency agreements, marketing relationships, research project and service agreements
- Provide advice and counsel in diverse matters affecting day-to-day business operations by assisting, advising, investigating, researching and resolving legal matters to ensure full legal compliance of company policies, procedures, forms, notices and materials
- Manage company trademark applications and registrations in concert with trademark attorneys to comply with Patent Trademark Office standards
- Develop and implement a system for tracking, documenting and investigating internal and external complaints regarding the company's compliance policies and/or practices
- Draft response documents for alleged violations of regulations
- Work collaboratively with Privacy Officer and Security Officer to ensure HIPAA compliance requirements are met
- Monitor regulatory and legislative information sources and analyze new legislation and/or applicable changes in state and federal laws, legal policies and regulations that affect the company and communicate as necessary to assure compliance
- Work in concert with outside legal counsel in the fulfillment of duties and responsibilities
- Special projects and duties as assigned
Qualified candidates for this position will have: - Requires a four-year business related degree, a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, and a minimum of 3-5 years of employee benefit related legal experience. Member in good standing of Wisconsin State Bar Association preferred.
- Must understand and be able to apply legal principles, theories and concepts. Must have working knowledge of industry practices.
- Ability to perform research and analyze legal documents
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships within the department and to develop rapport with external contacts; requires skills in negotiation and persuasion
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects with attention to detailed work
- Proficiency with MS Office and proprietary software applications
- Experience navigating legal databases such as Lexis-Nexis and/or state insurance department websites
- Requires the ability to consider and evaluate the strategic impact of decisions on a corporate level
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other office equipment
