Effective July 1, 2009, Delta Dental of Wisconsin's Evidence-Based Integrated Care Plan (EBICP) has been expanded to include additional medical conditions. We are expanding this benefit after comprehensive reviews of a large range of scientific studies that show the advantages of addressing the unique oral health challenges faced by persons with these conditions, as well as the important role they may have in the overall management of an individual's medical condition.

Here is a brief list of conditions that qualify individuals for additional benefits under their dental plan, effective July 1, 2009:

  • High Risk Cardiac Conditions: Persons who have experienced a bacterial endocarditic infection, have an artificial heart valve, a history of an unrepaired or prosthetically repaired congenital heart defect, and those who have had a heart transplant with continued valvular disease.
  • Suppressed Immune Systems: Conditions brought on by HIV, primary immune deficiency, Sjögren's  syndrome and the taking of immunosuppressive or antirejection drugs.
  • Kidney Failure or Dialysis
  • Progressive Periodontal Disease
  • Cancer Therapy
  • Diabetes
  • Pregnancy

Groups play an important role in informing employees about the changes, especially those individuals who might be eligible for benefits.  Click on the links below for downloadable copies of materials you can use with your employees.
