Insurance carriers partner to help dental offices reduce claim-filing costs

Delta Dental Plan of Wisconsin has joined with several other dental insurers in a partnership served by Dental Connect, Inc., a technology company based in Irvine, California that is a pioneer in developing Internet software to connect dental offices and insurance companies.
"We believe Dental Connect has the potential to bring tremendous benefit to Delta Dental Plan of Wisconsin and all of the publics we service," said Dennis Brown, president and CEO of Delta. "While we may compete with other dental insurers in some arenas, we are very pleased to join with many major insurers as investors in DCI. Collectively, we'll bring better efficiencies and cost reductions to the purchasers, providers and consumers of dental care, Clearly, a goal worth pursuing."
Among its service offerings, DCI operates the dentalxchange.com website, which allows dentists to submit claims and pretreatment estimates to all carriers at no cost. Submitting claims electronically produces significant savings both in terms of processing costs and turnaround time. The goal of DCI investors is to increase nationwide electronic claim submission from its current 28% to 80%.
